Third grade is a very exciting year as students mature and develop in their academics and spiritual walk. They look forward to learning cursive writing and multiplication for the first time, and get to learn much more through our Christ-centered curriculum. Our Bible program focuses on learning about God through studying the lives of Jesus and various Old Testament characters from Genesis and Daniel. Biblical worldview is implemented in all subjects as well. Our Christian Schools International Science curriculum teaches of God’s amazing creation and is supplemented with hands-on plant and soil kits.
Third grade students at FVCA learn about American history through biographies of famous Americans, practice math through using manipulatives and real world applications, and develop language skills through various writing and speech projects. In reading, we focus on novel studies, guided reading, discussion circles, and reader’s theater. To bolster creativity and allow students to take ownership of their learning, they have many opportunities to share their work, write and perform skits, play games, use interactive technology, create projects, and lead worship and discussions.
